What Parents and Students Say About MDM

Why should I enroll my child in MDM?

Over the years, parents have always shared with us their feelings towards Montessori De Manila, which serve as an inspiration to pursue our quest for excellence. Parents attest that our graduates now enrolled in other schools are found to be more knowledgeable and highly advanced in Science and Math-oriented subjects than their counterparts.

Find out what they have to say:

There are many reasons why Babes and I prefer Montessori De Manila.  The following are the most salient features or major plus factors which I believe are of utmost importance to us parents.

1.    We find MDM Casa and Grade School’s curriculum comprehensive and very advanced – a good start and foundation for future challenges.

2.   Montessori De Manila’s curriculum encompasses advanced subjects vis-ā-vis traditional schools, which challenges inquisitive minds and prepares our children for high school curriculum.

3.   Low teacher-to-student ratio enabling teachers to closely supervise and attend to the needs of the students.

4.   There’s a close parent-teacher partnership in the education as well as in the development of the children because the teachers and school officials are open and easily available for parents’ knowing the progress of their children.

5.   The school upholds the traditional solid family values as a basis in guiding and molding a new generation.

6.   Equally important, we have felt and seen the strong dedication and commitment of the founders/owners and teachers to the education of the school children – a dying quality in these times.

                                                                                                 - Mr. and Mrs. Deciel Yuhico, parents of Christopher and Joseph

“One of the best characteristics of the Montessori system is its emphasis on a child’s character formation.  My husband and I are very happy we sent our daughters to MONTESSORI DE MANILA.  We have seen our girls grow with their self-confidence, self-discipline, and their sense of responsibility.”

                                                                                                                                     - Mrs. Amalia Casas, mother of Boom-Boom and Jamie

The student-teacher ratio was the factor that made us choose MONTESSORI DE MANILA as the school to enroll our children in.  We’re happy that we did!  Our children exhibit a positive outlook towards school and schoolwork.  They actually look forward to doing their work and view learning with a sense of discovery.  I guess it could all be summed up by a comment Ines made when riding the car and reading messages of the billboards along the way; she turned and excitedly said, “Mommy, how wonderful is it to be able to read”.

                                                                                                              -  Atty. and Mrs. Ricardo Castro, Jr. Parents of Ines, Jade and Mike

I made the right decision when I chose MDM to be Renzo’s second home.  The school exceeded my expectations.  The teachers are efficient and effective.  More importantly, they are compassionate to their students.  No wonder the kids love them so much.  The use of didactic materials is effective.  Renzo learned a lot in his 2 years in MDM.  He has become more independent and disciplined.  We’re thrilled to hear Renzo talk about parts of the plants and animals, continents, planets, etc.  At 4 1/2, he can now read, spell and write in cursive.

I commend the teachers as well as the staff in the office for being approachable. I can discuss my concerns anytime without any hesitation.  I also commend the “manongs” and “manangs” for being helpful to the students and keeping the school grounds orderly.  Last and not the least, I commend Jinky, the lady guard, for looking after the students before and after classes.  I was surprised to see that she knows each and every child that comes in and goes out of school.  MDM is a big happy family!

                                                                                                                                                                                                                  - Dotty Gonzalez

When my husband and I learned the Montessori approach to child education, we went to MDM upon the recommendation of a friend.  Our children have since been here from Casa to Grade School and we haven’t been a bit sorry for our decision.  The progress of our children’s skills and aptitude is truly amazing and a source of pride and satisfaction for us.  At MDM, we do not force our children to attend school.  They want to be in school!

Surely, the Montessori way is tops and MDM is nothing less.

                                                                                                                                             - Mrs. Teresita Lagman, mother of Joey and Mariel

Why did we choose MONTESSORI DE MANILA?

      - I feel secure when my children are in school, especially my Tisha who is still in Prep, because of     the very nice and attentive gate guards and the gate pass policy.

      - Of the personal and caring attitude, shown by everyone, from the Directress down to the school’s     staff and teachers.

      - They are academically competent and qualified.

      - Most of all, my children like it there.  This is Timmy’s 6th year and Tisha’s 3rd year.

                                                                                                                                                                                      - Mr. and Mrs. Tim Del Rosario

Luigi entered school at 3 ½ in a traditional preschool.  However, when he turned 5 1/2, my husband and I decided to look for another school.  I made a matrix of six schools, comparing them in different criteria.  I saw your advertisement in the local paper and we liked it.  I threw away my exhaustively prepared matrix and enrolled my son in your school.  It has been a good year for Luigi.  The school’s atmosphere was great and the staff was friendly and reliable.

                                                                                                                                                             - Mrs. Deana Bandayanon, MDM – Davao

“We’re very proud of how she’s turning out” (this year), commented Mr. Rodrigo Cantela about his daughter Ellise, on the air in a local Davao show.

                                                                                                                                                                         - Mr. Rodrigo Cantela, MDM – Davao

Thank you for bringing out the best in our daughter not only academically, but in leadership, self-confidence and in taking responsibilities as well.  Also, thank you for maintaining a well-secured, disciplined and yet very accommodating, friendly and caring school environment for our children.  Had we known of your school earlier, Florice Dianne and her elder sister could have started and completed their earlier education at Montessori De Manila.

                                                                                                                                                                                          - Atty. and Mrs. Delfin Sigua

For the years they have spent so far at MDM, we are extremely proud of the academic performance of Efren, Cristina, and Gabrielle.  Like most parents who want nothing but the best education possible for their children, the three have consistently performed beyond our expectations. It illustrates the fact that they were properly motivated to excel in their studies, not so much as to please their parents, but more so because their mental faculties have been harnessed and developed to produce such impressive results.  We also give credit to MDM in the area of personality development. Our children exude self-confidence and a positive outlook, that to a great extent, will help them overcome future challenges and exceed in their endeavors.  We can only surmise that the school environment and its activities contributed to our children coming out of their shells, each becoming their own person and each possessing distinct qualities/strengths.

                                                                                                                                                                              - Mr. and Mrs. Angelo dela Dingco

MDM is of great help, a blessing for the fulfillment our dreams and for every parent as well.  Children are not only developed mentally, but physically, socially, and spiritually. So, it is truly a well-rounded education that MDM provides.

                                                                                      - Engr. And Mrs. Alexander Avante, parents of Charmaine, Alex, and Amanda

We are blessed to have found Montessori De Manila.  We never regretted our decision to make MDM the second home for our boys. The following are factors that are very important to us:

1.    The curriculum of MDM is very comprehensive and advanced.  It’s so amazing that my 4-year old child knows the regular and irregular polygons.  Reading and writing is always fun for them.

2.   The low teacher-to-student ratio enables the teacher to attend to each student’s needs.

3.   Being partners in parenting our children motivates us to develop our children to become good citizens of our country – a better and newer generation of upright leaders.

4.   MDM is a safe environment for little kids. Indeed, through the years, we’ve seen how the school takes care of its buildings – cleanliness and orderliness is another plus factor.

5.   The commitment, dedication, and passion of the founders/owners and the teachers to develop and create activities and curriculum that fits the present situation.

                                                                                                                      - Mrs. Marizelle Mabeza, mother of Joshua and Isaiah

We have made the right decision when we enrolled our kids in this prestigious school.  We have seen our children grow and develop, mentally and emotionally, through their years of stay in MDM.  With the help and support of the school’s able teachers and staff, we never felt insecure in terms of how much knowledge our children have gained even during the early years of their schooling.  With this good foundation, we are confident that our kids will mature intelligently and be competitive in whatever endeavor they choose in the future.

                                                                                                                  - Atty. and Mrs. Bienvenido Bulatao, parents of Johann and Camille

In the last six years that my daughter Audrey attended your school, she has grown to be a confident and intelligent child. Her knowledge and abilities have expanded way beyond her age.  She is able to converse with others, whether kids like her or adults, with ease and confidence.

I am confident that my child will grow to be a well-rounded and happy adult with the good education that she receives from Montessori De Manila.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                 - Mr. Victor Esguerra

Through the years, we continue to appreciate MDM’s consistent and passionate commitment to provide a controlled environment for students to grow and thrive as they go through their developmental stages. Below are the specific areas where we see such commitment and passion expressed:

1.   High Academic Standards – MDM academic standards are high and challenges Sara to stretch her capacities.

2.   Evaluation of Performance, Not Grades – In the MDM environment and culture, it seems rare for MDM students to obsess about grades. We like it that the school supports our own believe that school is not a competition against others over grades, but a personal challenge to oneself to keep improving.

3.   Balance – although there are a lot of academic requirements, there are several interesting extra-curricular activities in between.

4.   Supporting the Changing Needs of the Students – Holding dances and soirees for students provides a setting for mixing with both genders in a social setting.  Social mixing will become for Sara and her classmates, a natural and comfortable event.

5.   Caring Faculty and Staff – MDM faculty and staff are always easy to approach.  For us parents, it is very convenient and welcoming.  But most important for the students for whom this represents an open door.

6.   Organized and Stays Fully Connected with Parents – MDM sends out detailed circulars in a timely manner.  We also appreciate the parent circulars and seminars on relevant topics.  Prior to long holidays, MDM cares enough to send out circulars with doable suggestions on how to help children pass the holiday time meaningfully.

We truly appreciate all your efforts in helping us give Sara the space to grow and blossom into a well-developed, balanced, integrated and happy individual.

                                                                                                                                                                                   - Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Nothdurft

How do our graduates fare in college?

Since our first High School batch graduated in 2002, our students have since gone on to prestigious universities and colleges, entering into courses of their choice.  The real proof? Our products!

MDM has given me the opportunity to develop mentally and emotionally in both curricular and extracurricular activities.  Studying here has helped me realize my dreams and to aim for it.

                                                                            - Marrah Africa, Batch 2003, Ateneo de Manila University (Business Management)

The small classes in MDM gave each and every student the opportunity to get to know each other, forming strong friendships.  The teachers are very accommodating and approachable.  They are truly dedicated to their work and are willing to help out in any way they can.  The Math and Science classes are excellent!

                    - Katrina Lopez, Batch 2002, Houston Community College, Texas (Child Development and Adolescent Studies)

My MDM foundation has truly helped me survive the rigors of university life and I take pride in the values it has instilled in me: PERSEVERANCE and DETERMINATION.  It has furnished me with invaluable knowledge and has groomed me into an individual of substance.

                                                                                                      - Mary Jo Javier, Batch 2002, University of the Philippines (Pharmacy)

MDM made me aware of what I’ll be facing in college and trained me to be responsible in doing my priorities.  In DLSU, I never run out of requirements to submit but I was able to comply with everything because in MDM, I learned how to work under pressure.

                                                                                       - Zahra Mahfood, Batch 2003, De La Salle University (Development Studies)

Montessori De Manila has done more to me than just make me academically competitive. Self-discipline, independence and initiative are the things I have learned from my alma mater’s learning grounds and they have proven to be useful.  From where I study now, I can confidently say that Montessori De Manila has given more than what even the top universities are asking.  I am truly grateful to have been part of the Montessori family!

                                                                                                                   - Paolo Portillo, Batch 2009, De La Salle University (Psychology)

What’s in store for you as a student of MDM?  Our students speak out:

MDM has helped me mature as a person, both inside and out.  Through all the fun activities, programs and special events, I was also able to develop charisma and was able to feel that sense of belonging because as MDM, everyone’s family.  I’ve realized the great opportunities that awaited me because of the extraordinary teaching skills of the teachers.  I am given that challenge to be the best I can be because MDM paved the way for a bright future filled with endless possibilities.  I am truly grateful I’ve spent the most exciting years of school at MDM.

                                                                                                                                                                           - Stella Gutierrez, MDM Batch 2004

MDM has helped me grow in many ways – mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. In a span of four years, I have learned a lot, from the smallest things such as sitting properly, to the bigger things as taking on responsibilities.  This school has helped me mature both as a student and as a person. I am very proud and honored to be called a Montessorian!

                                                                                                                                                                                   - Louise Pelea, MDM Batch 2004

MDM has helped me shape my whole being, and made me become a better person. Being a student here has trained me to face reality and its obstacles.  I was able to learn a lot of new things that I can apply when it is my time to leave the campus.  One thing I really like about MDM is the unity between the students and teachers. Each day in school is something to look forward to because I know I will have fun with my classmates and teachers, and I will be able to gain more knowledge.  Frankly, MDM is a school that any student would dream of.

                                                                                                                                                                      - Samantha Sanchez, MDM Batch 2006

There are many reasons why I decided to go back to MDM.  One of which is because of the faculty’s professionalism.  They make sure that we understand the lessons taught us. They treat us all equally; there is no favoritism.  We also have an advanced curriculum.  In my former school, the lessons taught in 1st Year are already being taught in Grade 4 at MDM.  We Montessorians are also bilingual, which means we can speak both in English and Filipino fluently and easily.  Since MDM is a tight community, we know each other well.  In my former school, it was difficult to know even your classmates because of the huge class size.  The teachers here can monitor our performance.  Thus, we turn out to be respectful, trustworthy, responsible, and honest.

                                                                                                                                                                            - Femy Escalante, MDM Batch 2006

I have good reasons for returning to MDM.  The school has high quality education.  In my old school where I studied for Grade 6, our lessons were for Grade 4; I did not even need to study for our exams.  MDM also has a safe environment because of our small community. Here, people respect each other.

                                                                                                                                                                         - Bianca Palpalatoc, MDM Batch 2005

Here in MDM, students get to develop and maximize their abilities.

                                                                                                                                                                                    - Ino Gomez, MDM Batch 2007

Montessori De Manila is more advanced in studies compared to other schools and it’s proven that we, the students, are more disciplined and well trained than the others.  I’m glad to be a student of MDM and I’m proud to carry the name of this school.

                                                                                                                                                                              - Chiaki Hichiwa, MDM Batch 2009
